Finespun Part 1

Starring Emily.

She stood very still,

Backed into a corner 

Her silky skin glistened with the afternoon sun

And Heavy steps echoed in the hollow walls

The window was only a leap away 

Only a little farther to go

Legs aching from the climb and heart beating like the drums of the jungle whence she came

And yet those heavy  steps were the only thing to hold her in her tracks

Of all the teeth

Of all the darkness

This is where she awaits freedom,

In a new darkness

Heavy steps lighten, preparing to scamper from the splintered wall, the eyes of the unknown are burning from all directions into hers, 

The wonder of both souls looms in the air

She makes her break, legs scampering toward the light,

And with a leap of faith, the wind takes her under wing

A fine gold silk unravels from within to take her to freedom.
